It's Germany Tour again

Written by Asymm Project at 17:52 8/5-2016

Asymm Project has usually fared well in the most prestigious stage race of the OCM, but still has to win it. While the team's only Volta ao Porto victory came in the first attempt, the Germany Tour hasn't been conquered yet.

Here's a recap of the team's palmares in the GC of the Germany Tour:

  Season 23
  6th Delicano (3'31)

  Season 25
  2nd Delicano (1'39)

  Season 26
  4th Keovilay (44)

  Season 27
  9th Delicano (3'02)

  Season 29
  3rd Zainal (1'39)

  Season 33
  3rd Zainal (1'47)

  Season 34
  8th Zainal (4'17)

The team has never missed the top 9, and has notched up 3 podium spots. However, a victory never seemed very close. When Delicano was second in season 25, he was well over a minute behind Jégou, the clear winner. His second place was never threatened in a very strong performance, but Jégou in turn was untouchable.

When Keovilay finished only 44 seconds behind the winner he still had three riders in front and missed on the podium. He showed to be strong during the 10 days in all terrains, but wasn't with the best of the best in either.

Then Zainal, the only rider of the team who has finished twice in the podium, hasn't really had the best of the races, compromising her race with poor performances at the start of the Tour and then making impressive comebacks that never threatened the top spot.

This time Asymm Project comes back to Germany with Zainal hoping to get yet another top 9 before his best days are over. With no big rider coming up after her, it looks like it will still be long before Asymm Project get their long-desired Germany Tour yellow maillot.
